Membership is open to all those interested in amateur radio and visitors are most welcome. The meetings provide an opportunity to gain technical information, learn about new regulations, and just talk to other hams over a cup of coffee.
If you are not a ham, we can get you started towards getting your "ticket", either with mentoring or pointing you towards either our course or elsewhere. (Another club or online resources)
Our club repeater is one of the widest coverage repeaters going in east Ontario with coverage extending nearly halfway to Kingston and halfway to Montreal to the east. We are actively expanding and improving the repeater now, with a better controller and infilling some of the dead spots downtown.
Our hamfest/fleamarket is the largest in the area.
We have a monthly newsletter you can receive either by e-mail or by regular mail, as a member you will receive this before it is posted on the web here.
The OARC has had some of the best technical and not so technical talks going, which include such diverse topics as Ernie Brown's (VA3OEB) World War II experiences in the merchant marine, Clare Fowler's (VE3NPC) talks on satellites and Peter Devanney's (VE3YOW) talk on Civil Air Search and Rescue (CASARA.)
Come out for helping in field day or the ski marathon or other events.
Last of all, our meetings are anything but boring! We always have a good time and ragchew over coffee and cookies. Remember, visitors get free coffee so invite your friends!
I want to join! fill in membership form and e-mail to secretary AT oarc.net
