The OARC offers its heartiest congratulations to Mike Kelly, VE3FFK, of Ottawa, Ontario as the recipient of the RAC Amateur of the Year Award for 2024. Canadian Ski Marathon a big success!
|

|
On behalf of the Canadian Ski Marathon (CSM) organizers, many thanks to the amateurs who volunteered as radio ops for the 2025 CSM. Read further details on how it all went in the full OARC CSM post.

Please reserve February 07-08, 2026 on your calendar so you can volunteer for next year. It’s a great opportunity to learn how to operate at a public service event in an outdoor environment, to connect with fellow amateur-radio operators, and to get some fresh air!

He also includes details on the upcoming Commonwealth Contest on March 8-9, 2025, where the OARC will be opening VE3RHQ and all CW operators (and would-be CW ops) are invited! Please let Mike know you’ll be dropping in at RAC Headquarters (#217 – 720 Belfast Road, Ottawa) to operate VE3RHQ during the Contest.

New OARC 2025-28 Strategic Plan
|
|
|
|
For your review and feedback, the Board is pleased to present the draft OARC 2025-28 Strategic Plan. Its Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Strategic Goals and Objectives will guide our plans and budgets for the next three years. Please take a look and email any feedback to Ryan, the OARC Secretary, at Secretary@oarc.net no later than 5pm on Friday, March 7th.

2025-03-12 March Member's Meeting

IN-PERSON Meeting on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 @ 6:45 PM ET
|
The March meeting will repeat the agenda from the cancelled February meeting.
|
It will be an in-person (no Zoom), member-feedback meeting at Scouts Headquarters. There will be small-group discussions on five of the Club’s activities: 1. Field Day, 2. Kit Building, 3. Home Brew Night, 4. Auxiliary Communications Activities, 5. Radio in the Park, and 6. Carp Hamfest.

2025-04-09 April Member's Meeting

|
The April meeting will have two parts:

Bring your “homebrewed” projects, DIY apparatus, and home-made gear to Homebrew Night, our annual show-and-tell evening on April 9th. We will celebrate your accomplishments and hear tales of your successes and lessons learned. And there are awards!

PART 2: MEMBER FEEDBACK ON ACTIVITIES (Approx. 8:00-9:15)
|
|
We’ll use the second half of the meeting to again seek member feedback, this time about our involvement in community events when we provide radio-communications support as a public service. The small-group discussions will be on: 1. Canadian Ski Marathon, 2. CN Cycle for CHEO, 3. Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour, and 4. MS Bike. Stay tuned for more details.
