OARC Monthly Meeting – April 2026 - HOMEBREW NIGHT

The April 2026 OARC Monthly Meeting on April 8, 2026 at 6:45pm will be Homebrew Night, our annual show-and-tell evening. Bring your “homebrewed” hardware / software Amateur Radio projects, DIY apparatus, and home-made gear.

Ottawa Amateur Radio operators will join others worldwide, taking to the airwaves in celebration of amateur radio and commemorating the formation of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) on April 18, 1925.

OARC UHF/VHF Ground Plane Antenna-Building Workshop

Join us for the OARC UHF/VHF Ground Plane Antenna-Building Workshop. This project will be of interest to anyone who has a UHF/VHF Amateur Radio transceiver and is looking for a better antenna to improve their radio transmit-and-receive performance over the rubber-duck antenna (on a handheld).

OARC End-Fed Half Wave Antenna Build Workshop
|
The End-Fed Half Wave (EFHW) Antenna Build Workshop will be of interest to anyone who has a multi-band HF amateur radio with up to 100 Watts of transmitting power. Assemble a 49:1 Un-Un transformer in mounting hardware with a SO-239 feedline connector, and optionally connect an antenna wire suitable for 80/40/30/20/17/15/12/10m or 20/17/15/12/10m bands.

Field Day involves setting up temporary transmitting stations to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities. One objective of Field Day is to contact as many stations as possible and to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions.
