DESCRIPTION:Get involved in providing radio-communications support for the annual CN Cycle for CHEO\nAmateur Radio operators are needed for some bicycle mobiles\, some walking mobiles\, some fixed stations along the route\, and a few people for the command post. \nTo volunteer to get involved\, send an email to Richard VE3UNW at hagemeister@gmail.com. For more information\, visit this website. \nNow in its 19th year\, CN Cycle for CHEO is a fun\, non-competitive event that offers 15 km\, 35 km\, 70 km or 100 km cycling routes\, along with two km and five km walking routes. In his presentation\, Craig Delmage (VE3OP) will explore the design principles behind the modern hex beam; explains how its unique geometry delivers strong gain and front-to-back performance; and compares it with more traditional antennas such as Yagis\, dipoles\, and verticals. He will cover its discovery\, origins and evolution; specifications\, design and construction; performance data; primary manufacturers and pricing; mounting and rotor options; installation tips; and the pros and cons of commercial versus homebrew versions.
