Setup on June 26. \n   CLICK HERE TO REGISTER AND VOLUNTEER FOR FIELD DAY 2026 \nRegistering in advance helps the OARC prepare for the correct number of people. The same link will allow you to volunteer and indicate what time you are available and your preferred duties (set up\, operating\, tear down\, etc.) \nField Day involves setting up temporary transmitting stations to demonstrate ham radio’s science\, skill and service to our communities. One objective of Field Day is to contact as many stations as possible and to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions. OARC Field Day attracts lots of experienced Amateur Radio operators from across the region. We also have a Get On The Air (GOTA) station for new hams\, where an experienced ham will guide the newly certified through the process. And the OARC gets Field Day points for any new hams who make contacts on that station. \nField Day has been an annual event since 1933\, and remains the most popular event in ham radio\, attracting more than 31\,000 hams throughout North America. Field Day is sponsored overall by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) and\, in Canada\, by Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC). DESCRIPTION:Get involved in providing radio-communications support for MS Bike 2026 – Ottawa to Cornwall\, Aug 15-16 \n\n\n\nOperators are needed for Amateur Radio safety checkpoints and net control for this two-day event. Nicole\, VE3GIQ\, (psevents@ovmrc.ca) is organising the ham radio aspects and looking for volunteers. Nicole has provided these notes so you’ll know a bit more about what to expect and what information she needs from you when you volunteer: \n\nSimilar venue as last year\nWe have more options for tracking this year\nDoing more extensive testing of comms and APRS this year\nWe will need again embedded mobiles\, fixed rest stop and observers\n\nIf you wish to volunteer here is what I need to know: \n\n\nBasic info First and Last name\, Call Sign\, and E-Mail\nCell Phone number\nAvailability (Saturday\, Sunday or both)\nFixed or Mobile assignment (both need power) and a hand held\nMobiles are embedded\nWill need up to 3 Observers. Other fixed are at stops (5 + 2)\nMobiles must be APRS capable\, fixed not\nYour QTH (helps in assignment)\nIf you have beaconing equipment (no amateur embedded)\n\n\n\n\n\nCelebrating 37 years\, the money raised by MS Bike participants ensures that people affected by MS receive quality access and support that they need in whichever community they live.
