SUMMARY:OARC Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) training course
DESCRIPTION:The OARC is offering an Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) training course over two days on May 24-25\, 2025.\nThis course teaches the skills necessary to provide a wide range of effective emergency/disaster communications. It is designed for certified Amateur Radio operators but we also welcome West Carleton community members who are not licensed\, so they will understand the techniques and can work along side ARES-trained operators during exercises and live events. \nThe course will include: \n\nARES Organization – Roles and Responsibilities\nDeployment Kits\nNet Operations\nOperating Etiquette & Radio Procedures\nDeployed Exercise\n\nPrerequisite: Before taking the ARES Course\, you must take the Introduction to Incident ManagementSystem (IMS 100) course\, available online through the Emergency Management Training Portal Ontario. Click here IMS 100 course (e-learning) to take that course now.\nNOTE: When you take the IMS 100  e-learning course\, we’re told by some users that\, if you want to successfully reach the “Certificate of Completion” at the end of the course\, it’s best to use Google Chrome with no ad-blockers and also to use the save button early an often. \nOARC ARES Course details: \n\nCost: $25.
