DESCRIPTION:OARC Carp Hamfest is the region’s largest Amateur Radio flea market and trade show!\nThis event features most of the big ham radio retailers\, fellow hams selling radio goodies at unbelievable prices\, and major door prizes. This is the OARC’s annual flagship event! Below\, your will find more information as follows: \n\nReserve your vendor or exhibitor table\,\nWhat to expect at OARC Carp Hamfest 2025\,\nKey dates and times\,\nOther details (admission\, parking\, etc.)\, and\nVolunteer to help out at OARC Carp Hamfest 2025.\n\nReserve your vendor or exhibitor table\nIf you are commercial or private vendor\, don’t miss out on the opportunity to showcase your products and connect with amateur radio customers from across the National Capital Region. If you are an exhibitor (e.g.\, local amateur radio club or service organization)\, book a table to engage with potential new members and other audiences. Fee: Tables: $17 per 8-foot table (does NOT include admission fee) All tables are 8 feet long. The demonstration will display a functioning: \n\nWinlink 2m/70cm Gateway\nTypical ‘shelter’ station set-up with HF\, 2m and 70 cm capabilities\nAPRS display\nLocal AREDN network\n\nIf you are a prospective OARC AUXCOMM team member\, then this demo is for you! \nWe’re very grateful to Ian Snow VA3QT (Team Lead) and Marcel  Eschenmoser VE3UKW\, both from the Emergency Management Simcoe County – Auxiliary Communications Team\, for setting this up.  \n\n\nKey dates and times\nVenue setup date and time Friday\, September 05\, 2025 at a 2:00 pm – Venue set up NOTE that this is setup for the infrastructure\, NOT for vendors.  Hamfest date and start times Saturday\, September 06\, 2025 – Commercial vendor setup: 7:30 am – Private vendor and exhibitor setup: 8:00 am – Open to public: 9:00 am – 12 noon – Teardown after 12 noon. \nOther details (admission\, parking\, etc.)\nAdmission: $6 per person. Children 12 and under are free. Parking: FREE! Coffee and snack concession in the lobby area.\n\nWrite your Amateur Radio exam on-site\nWrite your Amateur Radio Operator Certificate exam at Hamfest under the supervision of an examiner accredited by Innovation\, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). You don’t need to book ahead – you can just show up! You can also upgrade. If you are upgrading\, bring the 11-digit certificate number on your current Certificate to speed processing.\nVolunteer at Hamfest on Sept. 6th\nEd\, VE3WGO\, has been delivering Hamfest since 2007 and we’re all so grateful to Ed for his organization skills and boundless energy. We are also fortunate to have a small army of volunteers that help make Hamfest to run smoothly. SUMMARY:OARC Radio in the Park 2025
DESCRIPTION:Get involved with OARC Radio in the Park (RITP) 2025\nJoin fellow Club members along with your friends and family to set up portable amateur radio stations at Walter Baker Park in Kanata.  The Activity runs from 9:00am to 1:00pm\, rain or shine. With a little help from local hams\, passers by can participate in “fox hunts” (using radio direction finding techniques to locate one or more radio transmitters hidden within a designated search area) and can “Get on the Air” under the supervision of a certified ham. \n CLICK HERE TO GET A FREE TICKET. We ask everyone to register in advance because this helps us to know how many people are coming and to send you reminder closer to activity. \nParticipants should be self-sufficient. No food or drinks will be provided. SUMMARY:SPECIAL NOTICE: RAC Aux-Comm Training Course
DESCRIPTION:The Ontario Government has funded Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) to train volunteers in Auxiliary Communications (Aux-Comm).  The course is FREE. Below you will find details on: the target audience and goal of the course\,  the pre-requisites you must meet\, the link to register for the course\, and finally a course description. Course location will follow. \nTarget Audience:\nThe Aux-Comm course is designed for experienced Amateur Radio volunteers who provide communication support during planned events and incidents\, as well as communication personnel from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and government Emergency Management services. \nGoal:\nThe Aux-Comm course aims to improve interoperability among Non-Governmental Organizations and Emergency Management workforces\, ultimately contributing to a more efficient and effective disaster response. \nThe goal of this 20-hour course is to provide instruction to Aux-Comm volunteers so that their individual and organizational efforts/expertise are appropriately integrated into the public safety/service communications support environment. \nAux-Comm volunteers provide alternate communications by supporting communications with other organizations: \n\nin cases where local services have failed;\nat emergency incidents/planned events/training exercises; and\nwithin the emergency management structure (Emergency Operations Centre (EOCs)\, etc.)\n\nPre-requisites:\n\nSign up at the Ontario Corps Volunteer Registration Portal and complete the pre-requisite steps described there.  This includes 4 on-line training modules that take about 2 hours to complete.\nComplete a Criminal Record Check.
