Ray, VE3FN, is a long time radio amateur and one of the leaders in the Ottawa area when it comes to radio communications in the microwave bands. With the HF bands seemingly stuck in the doldrums for almost an eternity now, interest in microwave communications has never been greater.
Microwave communication using frequencies at or above 10 GHz is not necessarily limited to line-of-sight paths. The use of weak-signal modes (CW / SSB) along with good antennas and electronics can provide contacts over extended paths. Ray's talk will provide an introduction to this very interesting aspect of amateur radio and includes video clips of actual contacts.
The March Meeting of the OARC will be held on March 11 at 7:30 PM in the Richmond Room (2nd Floor) at Ottawa City Hall. We will be back in the Col. By Room in April.
