Kits & Building

Project or kit?

Over the years, various OARC members have proposed, designed, found, or produced plans for homebrew building projects. This page provides links to these efforts.

A project can consist of plans, schematics, parts lists, PCB layouts, assembly instructions, testing and alignment instructions, etc. for you to use to homebrew the item using parts you buy or find in your “junk box”.

A kit consists of plans, schematics, parts lists, PCB layouts, assembly instructions, testing and alignment instructions, as well as a full set of parts (including PCBs and enclosures) such that you can build the item without any additional items other than your tools and solder.

Project and kit prices

Projects are free unless the author/designer has asked for reimbursement for their out-of-pocket expenses.

Kits have a cost, but they are generally no more than the actual component costs. Usually the kit is cheaper than buying the components yourself because of volume discounts. Having a professionally produced PCB is often worth the cost of the whole kit. Please note that for a few kits ONLY the PCB is available.

DO NOT SEND PAYMENTS FOR KITS TO THE OARC!
Project and kit prices can change without notice and the author/designer sets the price (if any) and collects the payment. The OARC is not involved, other than in describing the projects and kits on this website. There is a limited supply of kits.
