(As you may know, Mike VE3FFK is the OARC’s ISED Delegated Examiner. This is his report for the 2022-2023 year.)
New exam record set
This year has been a record breaker for exams.
From June 1,2022 to May 31, 2023, 61 exams were conducted for 46 different candidates, resulting in 26 new hams.
48 Basic exams were conducted of which:
* 4 passed with Basic qualification
* 23 passed with Honours qualification. One of those was an upgrade from Basic to Honours.
21 Basic exams were failures. Some candidates failed multiple times then passed. Some didn’t. I expect we will see some of them back again. Others likely won’t try again.
8 Advanced exams were written. 4 passed and 4 didn’t.
4 Morse exams were conducted. All 4 passed.
For comparison:
2021-2022: 13 exams, resulting in 11 new hams.
2020-21: 8 exams resulting in 5 new hams
2019-20: 21 exams resulting in 10 new hams
2018-19: 21 exams resulting in 14 new hams
2017-18: 24 exams resulting in 13 new hams
2016-17: 8 exams resulting in 3 new hams
