Radio in the Park 2025, the OARC’s annual community-outreach event, went off without a hitch on Saturday, September 13th at Walter Baker Park in Kanata. As always, a big thanks to Bill, VA3IEN, for organizing it. We all had lots of enthusiastic conversations with members of the public and we made sure to extend a warm welcome to all the new hams and some folks who are taking the Basic Course this fall.
We had a dozen operators turn out, covering phone and FT8 – and some who came just to socialize and promote Amateur Radio with passersby. There were end-feds, dipoles, and verticals. What a great diversity of gear! The weather was great. Coffee and timbits were plentiful.
Here’s a snapshot, in no particular order, of the hams who operated or dropped by (I’m sure we’ve missed a few and let us know of any errors): Al, VE3ZTU; Andrew, VA3IHG; Arthur VY2BIT; Dave, VA3OOC; James, VA3OJL (new ham); Myles, VA3MYZ; David VE3ZZU from OVMRC; Eric, VA3DXP; Maurice VA3TNO; Natalie VE3IBX; Shaun, VE3VHU (new ham); Bill, VA3IEN; David, VA3NUT; Jarrett, VE3FKA (new ham), Claude, VA3VLW; Will, VA3ODW; and Jeffrey VA3PEW.
There’s a photo gallery below with captions. Again, please let us know of any corrections.
