The spring 2025 OARC Basic Amateur Radio course ran from February to May 2025. This hybrid course ran for three hours every Sunday for 12 weeks. It covered all 100 Basic exam topics. The course itself was very well attended, despite students having to endure regular “dad jokes”!
So far, 23 of our students have passed the ISED exam (three basic and 20 with honours). A hearty welcome to all these new hams! Our instructors, Harrie VE3HYS and Thane VA3TTM, say that they teach the course because it is very rewarding to help people get their license and get on the air.
Looking ahead, ISED will introduce a new exam-question bank on July 15, 2025 and we are adjusting the course accordingly. This is going to be a considerable amount of work for Harrie and Thane and we’re really grateful. There’s more on this change in Mike, VE3FFK’s most recent “mk’s word” column.
