Ottawa Amateur Radio Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) – Report
The 2025 OARC AGM went off without a hitch last Wednesday evening, with 36 people in attendance, mostly members.
Welcome and review of agenda and minutes
After welcoming everyone, OARC President Roger, VA3EGY, facilitated the meeting starting with a review of the agenda and the minutes from the October 2024 Special Member’s Meeting.
OARC’s 2024-25 Accomplishments and Finances
Roger then invited everyone present to review the OARC’s accomplishments and financial statements from the past year by reading the OARC Annual Report 2024-25, which is available on this page (see below). A few hardcopies of the report were available on the tables. Below, you can read or download a PDF copy..
Then, OARC Treasurer, Daniel, VA3GLB, gave a presentation of 2024-25 OARC finances, noting that the organization is financially stable and has sufficient reserves for major initiatives or a “rainy day”. He then presented a multi-year plan to improve financial recording, reporting and accountability, which will prepare the OARC for an external review.
Election of 2025-26 OARC Directors
All the 2024-25 directors agreed to stand for re-election. The members present voted in favour of electing the slate, as follows:
- President – Roger Egan – VA3EGY
- Vice President – Harrie Jones – VE3HYS
- Secretary – Ryan Klomp – VA3WSO
- Treasurer – Daniel Boulet – VA3GLB
- Director at large – Ed Sich – VE3WGO
Look ahead at 2025-26 Operational Plan and Budget
Roger then walked us through a “look ahead” at the 2025-26 Operational Plan and Budget. Below, you can read the OARC Operational Plan 2025-26 – Summary.
He presented details of the plans for each of the OARC’s four goals: Education, Equipment, Active Involvement, and Partnerships, which come directly from the OARC Strategic Plan 2025-28.
Many of next year’s activities depend on having a Coordinator for each of those four goals, in addition to a few working groups to provide support to some initiatives.
All volunteer opportunities are described on the OARC Volunteer page so please take a look and get in touch for a no-obligation chat about any roles that might be of interest to you and your friends.
The 2025-26 look-ahead segment then covered plans for membership recruitment, retention and administration presented by Membership Coordinator Claude VA3VLW. Membership is growing steadily, with about 125 members currently enrolled. Finally, Communications Coordinator Joanne Egan presented plans for the website and newsletter that she is overseeing with web administration provided by Eve Panagapko and IT support provided by Neil Herber, VE3PUE.
AGM Adjourned
Then the meeting was adjourned and there was coffee and snacks, and lots of conversation.
