Zoom Meeting on Wednesday, February 08, 2023 @ 7:30 PM ET
Meeting details
Join Marcus as he provides a quick overview of radio astronomy and its relationship to amateur radio, and then delves into the latest project of the Canadian Centre for Experimental Radio Astronomy (CCERA) – the restoration of a 12.8M former NATO satellite dish near Carp, ON. He will discuss initial observations as well as the CCERA’s educational-support program.

Marcus has been involved in technology development since 1979, including nearly 20 years at Nortel Networks.
While at Nortel, he was involved in international technical standards for 13 years in both the IETF and IEEE.
He is the author of several Internet RFCs, and has 11 patents. In 2016, Marcus started the Canadian Centre for Experimental Radio Astronomy, and in 2017 went into semi-retirement, to focus on astrophysics instrumentation and the CCERA. He works very part-time on contract to National Instruments, providing technical support for their USRP(tm) line of software-defined radios. He lives in Smiths Falls, Ontario and was licensed as VE3MDL in 1986.
