The MS Bike Tour 2025 took place the weekend of August 26-27, 2025. They are back again to Cornwall, although departure Saturday and finish Sunday were from the Vernon Community Centre.
This year MS Canada raised almost $305 K in pledges for this cause. There were over 200 participants and 33 teams involved. The event went smoothly with no major incidents. There were 22 Amateur Radio volunteers in all, two of them from the Cornwall SVARC club, and Arthur (VY2BIT) came from PEI to perform the Patrol function. There were new faces amongst the volunteers, all of which were enthused regarding the experience.
A special thanks goes out to Doug (VE3HTR) and Roger (VA3GBV) who relocated the VE3SVC repeater from Cornwall to Bonville to provide a single repeater solution to support the event. They also arranged to link Winchester (VE3NDC) and Bonville (VE3PGC) to provide a backup. There were 4 mobile radio operators that rode with support and medical vehicles and the motorcycle patrol, all beaconing on APRS. Two additional vehicles were kitted with unmanned APRS beacons. Thanks go to Norm (VE3LC) and Jeff (VA3PEW) for providing that equipment, installing it and providing other valued support. And, as always, we are very grateful to Nicole, VE3GIQ, from OVMRC, for organising the ham radio aspects and volunteers, as she does every year with such skill and good humour.
In summary, the Amateur Radio community has provided support to this worthy cause in providing communications and coordination. My thanks to all of the hams that once again made this possible. The money raised by MS Bike ensures that people affected by MS receive quality access and support that they need in whichever community they live. Learn more about MS Bike – Ottawa to Cornwall.
