Event report from 2022

A full report on the 2022 version of this event, including pictures, appears in the OVMRC Rambler that can be viewed and downloaded at https://ovmrc.ca/2022/09/rambler-september-2022-vol-65-issue-1/. The 2023 edition will actually require more volunteer radio ops!

About the event

The money raised by participants in this event ensures that people affected by MS receive quality access and support that they need in whichever community they live. There are MS Bike rides planned at 12 in-person locations across Canada. For more details about the event locations please consult the MS Bike website.

The two-day bicycle ride from Ottawa (the Kars Recreation Centre) to Brockville covers 85km or 100km each day (rider’s choice!). The NEW route is filled with beautiful views of the Rideau River with stops along many quaint towns on the way to St. Lawrence College in Brockville. This is a fully supported cycling event with food and refreshments at each rest stop along the route as well as a celebratory finish line, dinner and evening ceremony in Brockville.

Call for volunteer radio operators

For many years, local amateur radio operators have provided communications support for this event. Any hams interested in volunteering for this 2-day public service event should contact Nicole Boivin of the OVMRC at ve3giq@myrac.ca. To cover the full length of the cycling route, Nicole is also looking for volunteers from the Seaway Valley Amateur Radio Club and the Brockville Amateur Radio Club. The event can use volunteers for one or both days – whatever fits your schedule.
