Too bad about the February monthly meeting being cancelled. I hope everybody got the word. I guess we will try again in March.
It’s nice to hear the Canadian Ski Marathon got run again. Although I have left most public service events to newer hams I like to think they are in good hands.
Challenges with the RAC HQ station
Meanwhile at RAC HQ, the station is still coming along, with a few bumps. It seems the fancy table tops at two of the stations have developed some cracks. The good news is that they are being replaced under warranty. The bad news is that it means we have to take everything off the stations, swap desktops and put everything back on – and I’d like to have everything back in place before the OVMRC meets there on the 19th. In the process of swapping the first two, cracks were found under the third one as well. Fun times.
Commonwealth contest on March 8-9, 2025
After a simple question from one of the regular drop ins, I started checking to see if we can get VE3RHQ established as a headquarters station for the purposes of the Commonwealth Contest on March 8/9. It can be a bit of a process, as the usual VE/VA#RAC callsigns are designated as the HQ stations. As the saying goes, stay tuned.
UPDATE: Permission granted. Both VA3RAC and VE3RHQ will be headquarters stations in the contest. All CW operators are invited to drop in to RAC Headquarters (#217 – 720 Belfast Road, Ottawa) and operate VE3RHQ during the contest. Let me know at my call at gmail.
