Are YOU the new volunteer OARC Membership Coordinator?
The OARC needs a volunteer Membership Coordinator. This is a critical role that will help ensure our sustainable, long-term growth by placing our members, and their experiences with the Club, at the centre of everything we do.
As part of the OARC team, the Membership Coordinator leads on:
- Recruiting and retaining members,
- Maintaining meticulous membership records, and
- Ensuring that members have a smooth and positive experience when they join or renew their memberships.
A regular commitment of approximately 2 hours per week is expected, perhaps a little more during club activities.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Background working with members and memberships
- Passion for amateur radio and knowledge of the Club’s mission
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of team
- Proficiency with office software (e.g., MS Word, Excel)
- Database experience and bilingualism would be assets
If you think that you or someone you know might be interested, then let’s have a no-obligation chat to explore the possibilities. Please email me directly at president@oarc.net by 5pm on Friday, March 21st and we’ll set up a time to talk about it. Together, we can make sure the OARC doesn’t just survive, it thrives!
March Meeting – Small group discussions about OARC activities
Remember that the March 12th Meeting will be in-person only and we’ll be having small-group discussions to gather your feedback about a bunch of club activities. We are counting on your input and will use it to shape our plans for the coming year. Be sure to click the link in the March Meeting post for a FREE ticket to the meeting. This helps us know you are coming so we can set up the room accordingly and have enough snacks!
And a reminder that I provided some ideas about what our group discussions on one topic (Kit Building) might include in my February Prez Sez.
April Meeting – Homebrew Night (and more feedback, if there’s time)
Our April meeting will be Homebrew Night – hopefully your projects are well underway! You will be rewarded for all your hard work by your peers and the esteemed judges (who will remain anonymous to avoid the possibility of bribery). It’s not only about the fun and bragging rights…there will be prizes too! The link for a FREE ticket to the April meeting will be live on March 13th and you’ll find it inside the Homebrew Night post. If you are planning to bring a project, please let Harrie know by 5pm Friday, March 28th by emailing him at vp@oarc.net.
If there’s time, the second half of the meeting will be used to seek feedback on Club events where we provide radio-communications support as a public service to our served agencies (e.g., CN Cycle for CHEO). If there’s no time, this will move to the May meeting.
Memberships
We are receiving lots of good feedback about our new secure, online payment system; many people have told us how quick and easy it is to use. To those of you who have recently joined the OARC: Welcome! And to those of you who have recently renewed your membership: It’s so great you are continuing with us! If you haven’t already, please join or renew today using the online payment system. You’ll find the fee schedule and other info on the Join the OARC webpage.
OARC Strategic Plan – next steps
Thank you to everyone who provided input on the draft OARC 2025-28 Strategic Plan. We appreciate your enthusiasm! The Board will integrate your feedback and post the final version on the website shortly. Next, we’ll use it to guide our operational plan for the coming year. You’ll have a chance to provide input on that, too, so stay tuned!
All my best and 73,
Roger Egan VA3EGY
