The lament
Where did summer go? It’s half past August already, even though Field Day was only a week or so ago, or so it seems.
There hasn’t been much radio activity around here in the past month with the exception of keeping the weekly sked with the Capital City net. All of the radio related to-do items are still sitting on the list, with either domestic chores or porch sitting down time taking higher places in the list. The weather has either been too nice or too miserable to do much on the air. Exams are still ticking over with one new (and very keen) ham, one Morse test done, and another basic on the schedule – and that’s before the Hamfest.
Hamfest prep
I figure I’m going to have to start the printer a week before the big day to get ready. Remember, if you are upgrading your licence, bring the 11 digit number off your certificate of proficiency. If you can’t find it, it is “retained at the address provided to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada” (if you ask them nicely, they may just tell you the number, since you will be getting another certificate with your new qualifications).
I look forward to all the stories of bargains, treasures and oddities found, on the net on Monday the 11th.
RAC congrats
BTW, congrats to Craig, VE3OP/VE3KKU, who recently became the RAC Director for Ontario North and East (that’s us). Nice to have a representative who is local to us. He has a ton of big ideas, so I expect we will hear a lot from him in the coming months.
